But even if you’re not exactly ready to create that DVD series, subscription transformation program or three book ab bundle, you can still use what you know to create a simple product that will make you money. Free fitness info products are a really effective way to make your boot camp marketing efforts pay off.
How? By igniting the interest of those people who are on your email list but not on your boot camp membership list. You can turn those semi-interested but not-yet-convinced hangers-on into paying customers by showing them you know your stuff and getting them to know, like and trust you.
The best things about this strategy are that: it costs nothing or next to nothing to implement and you can make it about anything you want.
You can create a recipe collection, protein shake recipes, a 10-day diet plan, a killer ab workout video, a beginner’s guide to high-intensity interval training…..whatever you know and get excited about and can express your excitement through.
You can produce a great-looking PDF download using Microsoft Office, Adobe or even some open source software and some great free images you can find online at CreativeCommons.org or Flickr. You can have one of your trainers, your spouse a friend film you demonstrating a killer workout and offer it via a special link and password.
It’s cheap, it’s effective, it uses contacts you already have and it’s easy to get it done and uploaded to your site or a special page you set up in a week or less. When done correctly, it will completely revolutionize your boot camp marketing plan.
Here’s how to make the most of your free fitness info product:
Lead into it and build excitement.
The last thing you want to do is just tack a sentence onto the end of your next email saying, “Oh by the way, here’s a link to my new Fat Burning Diet Plan if you’re interested.’
Instead, mention it in a few emails prior to launch. Make a big deal about it. Let your list know that you’re working on an amazing new Fat Burning Diet that will be available for free for a very limited time and exclusively to your email subscribers. In each email (I would do a minimum of three or four mentions in your regular email messages) talk just a little bit about the great benefits of this eating plan, but don’t go into a lot of detail and don’t run on for two or three paragraphs. Just a few lines will do. One of the biggest keys to creating excitement online is to leave them wanting to know more.
Once you have your product ready, set up a special page on your website or even set up an entirely separate website that contains a special opt-in. You don’t want to send this product out to everyone on your list, just those that are paying attention and are interested. The opt-in allows the subscriber to sign up just for your info product.
Now, if you want, you can add an opt-in button to your main website and post about it on your Facebook page, your Google+ page or wherever.
Once people sign up, your favorite auto-responder can send them the link to the PDF download, the workout video or whatever it is that you’ve created.
You also want to follow up with an email about a week later, that includes an exclusive offer (whichever low barrier offer you’re currently using) just for them. Create excitement.
