Not too long ago, I upset a first-time participant at one of my 7-Figure Formula Masterminds by telling her that she was completely focused on the wrong things when it came to growing her boot camp business. She was focused on everything but fitness marketing.
This person was doing well with her boot camp, don’t get me wrong. She wasn’t anywhere near seven-figure earnings, but she was making a living and paying her staff. But she felt she’d reached a plateau in her earnings and that the solution was to find or create better systems for her business.
What I told her, as gently as I could while still making my point, was that she didn’t need better systems for running her business – she needed a better system for growing her business. In other words, she needed to stop trying to avoid marketing and sales by busying herself with things that weren’t going to help her make more money.
Here’s the thing: making more money will enable you to hire people to take care of running your business. But if you focus on running the business instead of building it, you will always be an employee of your own company rather than enjoying the benefits of owning it, like freedom, vacation time and time to pursue other goals and interests.
So I went on to show this woman several ways that she could generate quality leads and then gave her some excellent strategies for turning those leads into long-term clients. I’m happy to say that in the couple of years since that 7-Figure Formula Mastermind, she has grown enormously, now makes more than enough money to pay other people to use and oversee daily operations and earned herself the quality of life that she wanted and needed.
I don’t know if you realize this or not, but no matter how passionate you are about helping your clients and reaching out to your community and changing lives for the better, you are in business to make money.
The only way you can help more people in your community is by making money.
The more money you make, the more people you’re able to help.
And you know what’s really cool about making more money?
It’s solves the biggest problem on your mind right now and that’s the problem of not making enough money.
More systems will not give you a better business. More clients will.
When you have more clients, and more money, then you can hire someone to dial in your systems for you or you can go out and buy programs to help you do it. But first, you need to generate more business and make more money.
The only way that’s going to happen is if you start seriously focusing on implementing proven fitness marketing strategies to attract more prospects and then learning to be a better closer so that you can convert more of those prospects into happy, long-term clients.
Listen, there’s nothing wrong with having good systems in place. Our Fit Body Boot Camps are so simple to run because they rely on proven systems that basically take care of every daily operation. But don’t make the mistake of thinking that tweaking and changing systems is going to bring in more business. You’re trying to avoid getting out of your comfort zone and actually selling your skills and your programs. That fear is normal and it will go away once you see the results of pushing yourself outside your self-imposed limits.
You have to go out there and get the business and then use great systems to keep everything humming along.
